The boot is built on Alden's Trubalance last from chromexcel leather sourced from Horween, Chicago's legendary tannery. Chromexcel is a pull-up leather that develops rich character over time and resists water naturally through its hot-stuffed tallow treatment.
The Goodyear welt and genuine Neoprene cork sole make resoling straightforward, and Alden's network of authorized retailers and independent cobblers ensures parts and service remain accessible decades into ownership. The 360-degree welt construction allows for multiple full resoles over the boot's life.
At roughly $600, the Indy is not cheap — but owners on r/goodyearwelt routinely document 10-15 years of hard wear with one or two resoles, putting the effective annual cost under $50. Alden produces in limited quantities with no shortcuts.
Every pair is bench-made by hand in the same New England factory that has outlasted two world wars. This is heritage footwear that earns its price through longevity.
