The Robert is their heritage-styled boot built to the same structural standard as their fire boots. Construction begins with a heavy leather midsole, a full steel shank, and a hand-lasted upper in full-grain leather — typically Wickett & Craig or Horween, both American tanneries producing some of the best leather on the planet.
The triple-row stitchdown construction is overbuilt by design, creating a boot that can be completely rebuilt multiple times. Nicks offers a full rebuild service for roughly $200 where they strip the boot to the upper and reconstruct it from the ground up with new soles, midsoles, heel stacks, and stitching.
Owners regularly report 15-30 year lifespans across multiple rebuilds. At approximately $500, the cost per year across a 20-year lifespan with two rebuilds totals roughly $45.
Nicks builds each pair to order with individual foot measurements, and every boot is made entirely by hand in Spokane. This is the definition of buy-it-for-life footwear.
