That repair infrastructure is still active — processing more than 22,000 garments annually, covering zipper replacement, seam repair, fabric panels, and down wash and re-loft. The Microlight Alpine uses a 30-denier Pertex Quantum shell, meaningfully more resistant to snag and abrasion than the 15-denier and 20-denier shells common in ultralight competitors.

The 700-fill-power recycled down carries a Nikwax Hydrophobic treatment, reducing moisture absorption without fluorocarbon chemistry. The Rab Promise covers manufacturing defects for the usable lifetime of the product — and when the manufacturer fails, the same team that built it does the repair.

One documented ownership history tracks an older-generation Rab down jacket through 20 years of active use before passing to a second owner. At $295 over a 15-year ownership cycle, cost-per-year calculates to under $20.

Made in Indonesia, RDS-certified, 91% recycled content. The 30D shell is the differentiator: it is the reason this jacket survives daily use where thinner competitors require careful handling.
