The reverse tanto blade is ground from CPM-S30V stainless steel, a powder metallurgy alloy that holds an edge far longer than conventional steels while remaining easy to resharpen. The 6061-T6 aluminum handles are anodized green and milled to reduce weight without sacrificing rigidity, bringing the total package to just 2.
9 ounces. Benchmade's AXIS lock is mechanically ambidextrous and has no documented failure mode in normal use.
The warranty is lifetime, covering any defect in materials or workmanship, and the LifeSharp program provides free professional sharpening for as long as the knife exists. Every component is replaceable through Benchmade's service center, from the omega springs to the pocket clip.
At roughly $185, the 940 costs less per year than a cheap gas station knife replaced annually over a twenty-year span. Made in Oregon City, Oregon, the 940 is the consensus EDC knife on r/BuyItForLife for a reason.
