The Eco-Drive caliber E168 charges from any light source — sunlight, lamplight, or a desk lit at 50 lux — and stores energy in a secondary cell rated to outlast the watch itself. Service intervals are measured in decades rather than years because there is no mainspring to wind and no consumable battery to replace.

The 44mm stainless steel case is rated to 200 meters with a screw-down crown, the mineral crystal is anti-reflective and impact-tested, and the unidirectional bezel turns through 60 audible clicks. Citizen backs the watch with a 5-year limited warranty, and movement modules remain in production across the full Promaster line.

Long-term owners on The Watch Vault and WatchCrunch report 8 to 14 years of continuous service without intervention. At a $200 street price, the cost-per-year over a 25-year lifespan is $8 — less than the lithium batteries a quartz alternative would consume over the same period.

This is the dive watch the rest of the industry is priced against.
