Hank Wang's one-man operation builds each unit to order with a choice of LED emitters — from high-CRI Nichia 219B for color accuracy to Cree XP-L HI for raw throw. The titanium body is machined from solid bar stock, not cast, and the knurling pattern provides secure grip without shredding pockets.

The Anduril 2 firmware is open-source and community-maintained, offering thermal stepdown, aux LED configuration, and programmable ramp profiles that no mass-market light approaches. The driver board, LEDs, optics, switches, and battery tubes are all individually replaceable — the r/flashlight community has documented teardowns and repair procedures extensively.

The limited warranty reflects the small-batch nature of the operation, but the titanium body itself is essentially indestructible. At roughly $90 for the titanium version, it outperforms lights costing three times as much.

This is what happens when an engineer builds exactly the flashlight they want to carry, then sells it to everyone else who wants the same thing.
