The Rotary model uses a machined bezel ring that provides infinitely variable brightness control from moonlight mode at 0. 15 lumens to a full 325 lumens, with no electronic UI modes to memorize or cycle through.

The electronics are potted in thermally conductive compound, rendering the circuit board immune to shock and moisture damage. The body is machined from a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum with hard anodizing, and the knurling pattern is precision-cut rather than stamped.

Every HDS light is individually tested and serialized before shipping. The warranty is lifetime, and Henry is known in the flashlight community for personally repairing and upgrading lights that are over a decade old, often returning them with improved electronics at no charge.

At roughly $260, the HDS Rotary is an investment. But owners on r/flashlight have been carrying the same HDS light daily for ten or fifteen years, and the mechanical reliability record is essentially unblemished.

The Rotary is not a flashlight for people who want the most lumens. It is a flashlight for people who want the last flashlight they will ever buy.
