The Rambler is their expandable roll-top backpack, built with HT500 nylon that was originally developed for truck tarps -- the same material used to cover loads barreling down highways at 70 miles per hour. The waterproof roll-top closure eliminates the zipper failure point that kills most backpacks, and the Arkiv modular rail system allows adding accessory pockets that attach with military-specification hardware.
The shoulder straps are contoured and padded for loaded carry, and the back panel uses a suspended mesh system for ventilation. Mission Workshop backs every product with a lifetime warranty that they honor without argument -- send in a damaged bag and they repair or replace it.
At roughly $295, this is premium pricing. But the cost-per-year over 15 years of daily commuting is under $20, compared to $50-75 per year replacing mid-range backpacks every 2-3 years.
The Rambler is engineered for people who view their daily carry as infrastructure, not fashion.
