Early Kapex units were known for motor failures; Festool revised the motor in 2019, and the current REB uses a magnetic brake in place of the electronic brake whose failure took out the motor. The result is a saw built around German-made rails, a dual-laser cut line, and dust extraction that captures the overwhelming majority of debris at the blade.
Festool's three-year all-inclusive warranty covers wear, repairs, and even certain accidental damage with no labor charge — among the most complete coverage in the industry — and every component is sold as a serviceable part with published repair procedures. At roughly $1,650 it is an investment, near $165 a year over a conservative ten-year life.
For trim work where a half-degree shows, the Kapex pays for itself in material saved and cuts that need no correction.
