Greenlee 6001 Super Tugger Cable Puller Power Unit

CERTIFIED tier

Greenlee builds the Super Tugger 6001 in the United States as the standard cable-pulling power unit for working electricians, and the design reflects a tool meant to be rebuilt rather than replaced.

Origin

Made in USA

Warranty

One-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship (capital goods; Greenlee's lifetime warranty applies only to hand tools, test instruments, and benders). Coverage is to the original purchaser. Factory-reconditioned units carry a one-year warranty.

Price

~$8200 (Heirloom)

A heat-treated steel capstan and serrated gripper feet move up to 6,500 pounds of conductor with under 27 pounds of operator effort, and the patented rope-guidance system is the part that has kept the basic architecture in service for decades. The case against disposability is repairability: Greenlee publishes exploded parts diagrams, sells the capstan, rope, and gripper components separately, runs an authorized service network, and offers factory-reconditioned units, so a 6001 that has pulled wire for twenty years can be brought back to specification at the bench.

The factory warranty is only one year, short of the lifetime coverage Greenlee extends to its hand tools, and that is the single mark against an otherwise generational tool, offset here by a genuine parts-and-rebuild ecosystem. At roughly $8,200 it is professional capital equipment, but spread across a multi-decade working life it costs a fraction of repeated rentals.

Electricians say it will outlast them; the parts catalog says it can.
