Lincoln Electric Ranger 225 Engine Driven Welder/Generator (Kohler), K2857-1

ELITE tier

Lincoln Electric has been building engine-driven welders in Cleveland, Ohio for generations, and the Ranger 225 is the machine behind the shop adage that old Lincoln welders never die.

Origin

Made in USA

Warranty

Three-year Lincoln Electric parts-and-labor warranty on the welder/generator; the Kohler engine is covered separately under Kohler's engine warranty. An optional two-year extended welder warranty (X2857) is available. Backed by Lincoln's nationwide authorized field-service network and broad OEM parts availability.

Price

~$6849 (Heirloom)

It pairs a 23-horsepower Kohler engine with a 225-amp DC multi-process welder and a 9,000-watt continuous generator inside a totally enclosed steel case — one tool that runs stick, TIG, MIG, and flux-cored and powers a job site with no grid in sight. The welder carries a three-year parts-and-labor warranty; the Kohler engine is covered separately.

What makes it a lifetime machine is serviceability: brushes, slip rings, rectifiers, and fuses are panel-accessible and field-replaceable, OEM parts flow through NAPA and Lincoln's nationwide service network, and Kohler engine parts are everywhere. Owners routinely report 20 to 30 years of service, and used units hold 40 to 60 percent of their value.

At roughly $6,850 it is a serious purchase, but it replaces a separate welder and generator and outlasts both. For a working shop or a rural property, the Ranger 225 is infrastructure.
