Powermatic PWBS-14CS 14-inch Bandsaw
CERTIFIED tier
Powermatic built the PWBS-14CS 14-inch bandsaw on the formula that made the platform a shop standard: 14-inch precision-balanced cast iron wheels, a two-piece cast iron table measuring 15 by 20 inches, and a 1.
Origin
Made in Taiwan
Warranty
5-year limited warranty on defects in workmanship and materials for residential use (reduced for commercial/industrial use); excludes consumable blades; original US purchaser only, non-transferable.
Price
~$1979 (Heirloom)
5 HP motor that resaws a full 6 inches through the included riser block. The Carter quick-tension lever and dual-bearing guides above and below the table are the controls owners keep coming back to, and one six-year owner reports it runs flawlessly and would buy it again.
Built in Taiwan under JPW Industries, it carries a 5-year limited warranty on defects, and parts manuals are published openly with a deep dealer and service network behind them. It is not flawless: the motor mounts and blade guides draw legitimate criticism, and competitors like the Grizzly G0555X cut comparably for less money.
But at $1,979 amortized over two decades of cast iron service, under $100 a year, it remains a repairable, parts-supported machine engineered to be set up once and kept. That longevity, not the badge, is why it lists here.
