2cc two-stroke 2-MIX engine stretches run time and roughly halves emissions versus the prior generation, while the pre-separation HD2 air filtration lets the filter run about ten cords between services. Every part is rebuildable through Stihl's network of more than 10,000 authorized dealers, and Stihl stocks repair parts for roughly a decade after a model's final production run — carburetor kits, bearings, seals, and ignition modules stay available.
It is heavier than its displacement suggests, and the warranty runs only one year for homeowners unless extended with MotoMix fuel, which is its weakest point. But for firewood and farm work, the 271 is bought once and serviced indefinitely.
