All American 921 21.5-Quart Pressure Canner

ELITE tier

Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry has been casting the All American canner in Manitowoc, Wisconsin since 1930, and the design's defining decision — a machined metal-to-metal seal clamped down by six wingnuts — eliminates the one part that kills every other pressure canner: the gasket.

There is no rubber ring to crack, dry out, or fail mid-batch; the only consumable is a five-dollar overpressure plug. Owners report 30- and 45-year-old units running like new, and the foundry still sells retrofit kits that keep pre-1975 canners in service.

Every part — dial gauges, regulator weights, wingnuts, even complete lids — is sold direct from the factory, and units purchased since September 2024 carry a lifetime warranty. The 921 processes 18 pints or 7 quarts per run in precision-cast aluminum, on gas, electric, or flat-top stoves.

At roughly $450 it costs three times a gasket-sealed competitor, but amortized over a documented 40-plus-year service life that works out to about $11 a year with near-zero parts cost. This is the canner that gets handed down, not replaced.
