Country Living Hand Grain Mill

ELITE tier

The Country Living Grain Mill has been cast in the United States, essentially unchanged, for more than thirty years.

Origin

Made in USA

Warranty

Lifetime warranty to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship, covering all parts except the powder-coat finish; grinding burrs carry a separate one-year warranty. Tied to the original owner (not stated as transferable).

Price

~$810 (Heirloom)

The body is hand-cast aircraft-grade aluminum in an I-beam section; the burrs are investment-cast high-carbon steel; the drive shaft rides on two double-sealed industrial ball bearings spaced to take the load off each other. It is built to be rebuilt: Country Living sells a complete 'Just-In-Case' repair kit — bearings, auger, washers, keys — plus individual replacement burrs, and publishes the bearing-press instructions to do the work at a kitchen table.

Every wear part is a documented, purchasable component. The warranty is lifetime to the original owner on everything but the powder-coat finish.

Homesteaders report decade-plus service and motorized units still grinding daily; the mill is routinely handed down. At around $810 it is a serious outlay, and fine wheat flour takes real effort to crank — many owners belt-drive it with a motor.

But against a lifetime of $80 mills that strip and die, a cast-aluminum mill with a full parts catalog and a lifetime warranty is the last grain mill a kitchen buys.
