The Gen 2 burr set was redesigned after community feedback on the original cited a narrow grind range; the new geometry produces a usable particle distribution from cold brew down to fast filter, all of which is what the Ode is built for (this is a brewed-coffee grinder, not an espresso machine). Fellow sells the complete replacement parts catalog direct: burrs, hopper, control board, motor assembly, knockbox, dosing cup.
The optional SSP MP Brew Burrs with Red Speed titanium-aluminum-carbon-nitride coating are advertised to extend burr life up to fivefold over the standard set. The Ode Gen 2 carries a two-year limited warranty extendable to three years with free product registration.
At roughly $345, distributed over a fifteen-year service life with one burr replacement, the cost lands at around twenty-five dollars a year. The replaceable burr architecture is the meaningful BIFL signal here — failure of the cutting edges is a serviceable event, not a buy-replacement event.
