The ceramic conical burrs will never rust, never dull under normal use, and produce none of the heat that steel burrs generate — heat that degrades coffee oils on contact. The stabilization plate locks the lower burr in position, solving the wobble problem that plagued earlier Skerton models and delivering consistent grind from Turkish-fine to French press coarse.
Every component is replaceable: burrs, gaskets, the adjustment mechanism, even the glass hopper. At roughly $50, it costs less than six months of coffee shop visits, and owners on r/BuyItForLife routinely report eight to ten years of daily use with nothing more than occasional cleaning.
The Skerton Pro is not glamorous. It is a hand grinder that does exactly one thing — break beans into uniform particles — and does it for a decade without complaint.
That is the entire point.
