Its 63mm conical burrs are sourced from Mazzer, the Italian commercial-equipment maker whose burrs power espresso bars from Milan to Melbourne, and Niche specs them for roughly 1,600 pounds of coffee before grinding-quality decay — a lifetime of espresso for most home users. The drive train uses a low-speed 330-rpm gear motor that dramatically reduces heat transfer to the beans and runs noticeably quieter than the high-speed alternatives in the same price bracket.
The throat is engineered for near-zero retention, so the dose in equals the dose out, and the entire grinder is built around easy disassembly for cleaning without specialty tools. Niche backs the unit with a 2-year warranty and sells every internal component through their direct-distribution channel.
Used Niche Zeros routinely resell at 80 to 90 percent of MSRP because the design aged into a benchmark rather than aging out. At roughly $799, the cost per year over a realistic 20-year lifespan with one Mazzer burr replacement is approximately $42.
The grinder market shifted around the Niche, not the other way around.
