The 65/35 mohair-to-nylon blend provides the low-friction glide of pure mohair with the durability and wet-snow grip of nylon — a mix that performs across the variable conditions backcountry skiers actually encounter. The STS tail clip and tip loop attachment system is toolless and universal, fitting any ski shape without modification.

The adhesive backing is re-glueable, extending the skin's useful life well beyond the typical three to four seasons when the factory glue loses tack. Black Diamond sells replacement glue sheets, tip loops, and tail clips separately.

At roughly $180, the GlideLite costs less per season than lift tickets at most resorts, and backcountry skiers on r/Backcountry and ski forums routinely report four to six seasons of heavy touring use. Black Diamond backs them with a manufacturer warranty against defects.

The glue rework capability is the key BIFL feature — it transforms what most skiers treat as a consumable into a repairable piece of equipment. Purpose-built for the ascent, engineered for the long haul.
