The OSMO fabric blends recycled polyester with organic cotton fibers, absorbing roughly 10 times less water than conventional nylon while maintaining waterproof breathability. This means the tent does not gain weight in humid conditions and the waterproof coating lasts significantly longer than PU-coated nylon alternatives that begin delaminating after 3 to 5 years of regular use.
The Dagger's geometry provides two doors, two vestibules, and 90 square feet of floor space at a trail weight of 3 pounds 5 ounces -- competitive with ultralight tents that cost twice as much. The DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles are pre-bent for maximum headroom and reinforced at stress points.
NEMO offers a lifetime warranty to the original owner covering defects in materials and workmanship, and their repair department handles pole replacements, fabric patching, and zipper repairs. At roughly $400, the Dagger OSMO sits in the mid-premium tent category.
The cost-per-night over a 10-year lifespan of 30 nights per year works out to $1. 33 per night of shelter.
The trade-off is that OSMO fabric is slightly heavier than the lightest nylon alternatives. But for backpackers who want a tent that resists the moisture-related aging that kills most tents, the Dagger OSMO is built for the long trail.
