The Gomboy 240mm is their most popular folding saw, and the engineering is immediately apparent in use. The taper-ground blade uses Silky's proprietary impulse-hardened tooth technology — each tooth tip is individually hardened to Rc 61-64, dramatically extending edge life beyond conventional saws.

The blade cuts on the pull stroke in the Japanese tradition, producing a thinner kerf with less effort. At 240mm (roughly 9.

5 inches), it handles limbs up to 5 inches in diameter with startling efficiency. The rubber-coated aluminum handle absorbs vibration and locks the blade open with a positive detent that eliminates wobble.

When the blade eventually dulls after years of use, replacement blades are available for roughly $15 — the handle is designed to outlast dozens of blades. This is the critical BIFL detail: the expensive engineered handle is permanent, and the consumable blade is cheap and replaceable.

At roughly $45 for the complete saw, the per-year cost over a decade of trail maintenance and camping use is negligible. Bushcrafters, arborists, and trail crews across North America have adopted Silky saws because nothing else cuts this clean with this little effort.
