ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)
CERTIFIED tier
The Debut 2.
Origin
Made in China
Warranty
3-year limited warranty to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship, valid on units bought from an authorized ELAC Americas dealer; non-transferable (B-stock carries 90 days). Warranty override applied: a fully passive, battery-free, firmware-free design whose only failure modes are serviceable physical parts -- screw-in drivers and a discrete passive crossover -- so the short warranty term is far less predictive of lifespan than the design physics, consistent with the site's proven-BIFL override.

~$330 (Mid)

0 B6. 2 is the speaker r/BudgetAudiophile hands to anyone starting out, and it has held that position for years because Andrew Jones -- a designer whose resume includes five-figure flagship speakers -- engineered a genuinely good loudspeaker down to a budget price.
The 6. 5-inch aramid-fiber woofer and one-inch cloth-dome tweeter sit in a thick MDF cabinet, and the whole thing is fully passive: no amplifier, no DSP, no firmware, nothing that ages out or bricks.
The only real failure paths are physical, and passive drivers routinely run 20 to 40 years. Repairability is unusually strong for the price -- the drivers unscrew, used replacements circulate, GR-Research sells a complete crossover-and-damping upgrade kit, and the DB63 successor drops into the same footprint.
The warranty is three years to the original owner. At roughly $330 a pair, the cost-per-decade math is the entire argument: a durable, serviceable speaker for the price of a disposable soundbar that would be landfill in three.
It is the best-value passive bookshelf on this list.
