SVS SB-1000 Pro Sealed Subwoofer
CERTIFIED tier
SVS builds the SB-1000 Pro around a sealed 12-inch driver with an aluminum cone and a 325-watt Sledge amplifier, then backs it with something rare in powered subwoofers: a five-year unconditional warranty and a customer-service record that audio forums treat as a benchmark.
Origin
Made in China
Warranty
5-year unconditional limited warranty covering defects in workmanship and materials across both the 12-inch driver and the Sledge plate amplifier -- SVS's full wired-subwoofer term (not the 2-year wireless tier) -- backed by a 45-day in-home trial, free two-way shipping, and a documented reputation for honoring claims without friction. Warranty override applied: the sealed cabinet and driver are effectively lifetime-durable and the plate amplifier is a modular, SVS-serviceable unit, consistent with the site's proven-BIFL override; the amplifier remains the category's inherent finite-life component.

A sealed subwoofer is a simpler, longer-lived machine than a ported one -- no port to chuff, tighter response, and a rigid MDF cabinet with little to wear. The plate amplifier is the honest caveat: it is the one component with a finite life, but SVS builds it as a modular bolt-on unit it will service, independent amp-repair shops exist, and the control app is entirely optional -- rear-panel buttons run volume, crossover, and phase with no phone or software dependency, so an abandoned app cannot strand it.
At $599 that is roughly what a single amp replacement might cost a decade out, and the sealed enclosure and driver will outlast several such services. For a powered subwoofer -- a class that mostly fails this site's bar -- it is as close to buy-it-for-life as the category allows.
