The unit projects a continuous 360-degree horizontal line and a 90-degree vertical line, with a self-leveling pendulum that locks during transport and resets to plumb on power-up. Accuracy is 5/32 inch at 100 feet, with usable range extended to 165 feet via pulse mode when paired with a DeWalt laser detector.

Over-molded housing and an IP54 rating protect against the standard contractor-truck environment — drops onto concrete, sawdust, moisture. DeWalt's three-year limited warranty is the longest in mainstream laser levels, backed by a service-center network deep enough that most metro markets have one inside an hour's drive.

Replacement parts — battery doors, viewing windows, wall mounts — are stocked across the aftermarket. At roughly $300, the math against renting laser equipment for two or three projects is already over.

For a tool used twice a year for decades by a homeowner or weekly by a small contractor, the cost-per-use compounds in favor of buying once.
