The Forged Hand Trowel is a single piece of hand-forged, heat-treated boron steel with a flat-arm design that resists the bending that folds stamped-metal trowels in dense soil, fitted to a handle of FSC-certified European ash. Where a hardware-store trowel is a stamped blade riveted to a hollow tube, this is a tempered forging meant to be sharpened, not discarded.
DeWit backs it with a lifetime warranty against defects — limited to the original owner and to manufacturing faults, not the wood drying out, so the ash handle wants occasional oil and dry storage. That handle is also the one mortal part: the steel head will outlast its owner, and a cracked handle can be re-fitted by anyone willing to do the work.
At roughly $40 for a forged tool that replaces a decade of $12 trowels bent and thrown away, the math is plain. This is a hand tool built on the assumption that it will be inherited.
